Start with a photo

Find out if your chip is repairable before anyone drives anywhere

Not every chip can be repaired, and we would rather tell you that up front than take a booking we cannot deliver on. Text or upload a clear photo of the damage and we will give you a straight answer.

  • Take the photo from outside the vehicle, straight on, in daylight
  • Include a coin or fingertip next to the chip for scale
  • Tell us roughly when the damage happened
  • Mention any previous repair attempt or DIY kit

What we repair

Damage types we repair

We do one job: repairing rock chips and small impact damage in laminated windshield glass. These are the patterns we see most often across the South Bay.

Bullseye chips

A round, cone-shaped impact mark with a dark centre, usually caused by a stone at highway speed. Often one of the most predictable repairs.

Star breaks

A small impact point with short legs radiating outward. These can extend into longer cracks if left through hot and cold cycles.

Combination breaks

A bullseye with star legs around it. Very common, and still repairable in many cases depending on size and depth.

Small impact points

Shallow surface pits and chips that have not yet started to run. Worth addressing early before they spread.

How it works

Four steps from photo to finished repair

The process is deliberately simple, because most people are fitting this around work or family.

Send the details

Text a photo of the chip or submit the quote form with your vehicle year, make and model.

Get an honest assessment

We tell you whether the damage looks repairable, what result to expect, and where the limits are.

Confirm the appointment

We agree a time and a location that works for you, at home or at your workplace.

Repair on site

We clean the impact point, inject resin under controlled pressure, cure it and finish the surface flush.

Why Mr. Chip

A specialist, not a general auto glass shop

We only do chip repair

Chip repair is not a sideline for us. It is the whole business, which is why we can be direct about what is and is not worth repairing.

Your driveway is our shop

No dropping the car off, no waiting room, no rearranging your day around a workshop appointment.

Straight answers

If the damage needs replacement rather than repair, we say so. We do not sell repairs that will not hold.

Setting expectations

What repair can and cannot do

A good repair restores strength to the damaged area and stops the chip from running into a crack. It improves appearance, but it does not make the damage vanish. Anyone promising an invisible result is overselling it.

Want more detail before you book? Our windshield chip repair resource guides cover cost, repair vs. replacement, insurance, DIY kits, and ADAS calibration.

  • Stops the chip spreading under temperature and vibration
  • Restores structural integrity at the impact point
  • Usually a noticeable cosmetic improvement
  • Will not leave the glass looking untouched
  • Cannot restore long or spreading cracks
  • Cannot fix damage already sealed by a DIY kit

Repairability depends on size, depth, location, contamination, age, previous repair attempts, proximity to the windshield edge, and whether the damage sits in the driver primary line of sight. A photo gets you a preliminary answer; the final call is made on site.

Common questions

Frequently asked questions

How long does a chip repair take?

Most appointments run about 20 to 40 minutes from arrival to finished repair, depending on how many chips there are and how contaminated the damage is.

Do I need to be there for the appointment?

The vehicle needs to be accessible and either unlocked or attended. Many customers leave it in the driveway or the workplace car park and carry on with their day.

Will the chip disappear completely?

No. A good repair restores strength and usually improves appearance noticeably, but some mark almost always remains visible. We tell you what to expect before starting.

What if the damage cannot be repaired?

We tell you before booking wherever possible, based on your photo. If it only becomes clear on site, we explain why and you are not charged for a repair we did not carry out.

Do you replace windshields?

No. Mr. Chip is chip repair only. If your windshield needs replacing we say so plainly so you can arrange it with a replacement specialist.
